The Open Days “Fountains of the South” took place in the commune of Bobicești, Olt. During the event treasure hunting games were organized and a historical fountain, the fountain of Florescu, built by Haralambie, was consecrated. The event was broadcasted online and reached over 220 people. The Open days bring to the fore the importance of historical fountains in the commune, customs and rituals related to fountains. The six local storytellers from Bobiceşti will tell us stories about customs and rituals related to the historical fountains of the commune.
During the two days, 14-15 August 2021, a number of over 50 people participated in the events, went through the two performative routes of the trail and entered the game of treasure hunting organized in the form of a „marathon” of the historical fountains in Bobicești. The Open Days of the „Fountains of the South” on the digital performative route
Considering the organization on site, but also online of the Days of the “Fountains of the South” and of the completion of the performative route – pilot cultural circuit, made up of two parts, we prepared its digital route.
The digital performative route was used by the public on site for orientation on the map, but also by the public in the digital environment, who visit – virtually and independently – the route with all the performative gestures. The digital route has an inclusive role, as it is a tool built to provide access to culture and people with reduced mobility.
The digital performative route includes photos made by Cristian Bassa and Dorian Delureanu, descriptions of the geolocated fountains included on the two circuits, written by Roxana Deca. The digital performative route includes the video installation “What a fountain sees” made by Cristina Irian, editing and sound by Iulia Pană and video sequences with local storytellers with stories about how to build a fountain, types of fountains from Bobicești, gestures and practices related to fountains, customs and rituals related to fountains, stories and local events related to fountains from Bobicești, part of the performance and narrative program.
At the end of July 2021, we started the digital days of the „Fountains of the South”. During August 2021, included the Open Days, a number of over 1500 people visited the performative map and the performative routes, and over 50 people qualified at the treasure hunt questionnaire dedicated to the open days.
The participants told us some of their favourite fountains discovered on the performative trails such as: the fountain from the Church, the fountain with three founders, Prunică’s fountain from the crossroads, the fountain from Livezi, Ionică Stăcăleață’s fountain, Stavăr’s fountain, the fountain from Bădoaica, Ciurlea’s fountain, Vladu’s fountain.
